Seth Anderson named MIAC Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week

Gustavus Adolphus men’s basketball player Seth Anderson (Minnesota Lake, Minn.)  has been named MIAC Men’s Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week for his performances in last Gustavus’ back-to-back MIAC victories over Saint John’s and Macalester.  Anderson averaged 26.5 points and shot .618 (21-34) from the field on the week, leading the team in scoring in both contests.

On Wednesday night in St. Peter, the senior guard turned in 20 points on 9-of-17 shooting in Gustavus’ 63-49 win over a Saint John’s squad that was in the midst of a six-game winning-streak.  Anderson followed Wednesday’s performance with a 33-point afternoon in an 86-70 win over Macalester on Saturday afternoon in St. Paul.  Trailing by 11 points at halftime, Anderson brought the Gusties storming back in the second half, scoring 23 points after going a perfect 8-for-8 from the field and 7-for-8 at the charity stripe within the frame.  The Gusties outscored the Scots 50-to-23 in the second half leading up to their third-straight MIAC win.  Anderson finished 12-of-17 from the floor and reached the 30-point mark for the fourth time this season.

The Gustavus men’s basketball team enters the week at 9-4 overall and 6-2 in the MIAC, sitting in a tie for second place in the league standings alongside Augsburg.

The Minnesota Lake, Minn. native is currently the leading scorer in the MIAC, averaging 25.4 points per game and shooting 58.0-percent (127-219) from the field.  Anderson’s 127 field goals made is the most in the MIAC.

Gustavus will embark on its second three-game week of the season Monday at home against Concordia.  Tip-off is set for 7:45 p.m.
