Women’s Golf Tied For First Place At Division 3 Invite After Day One Posted on September 18th, 2011 by

Taylor Drenttel is in the lead after firing a 73 (+1) on day one.

The Gustavus women’s golf team is currently in a tie for first place after shooting a 321 (+33) on day one at the Division 3 Classic being held at the Jewel Golf Club in Lake City, Minn. Sept. 17-18.  UW-Eau Claire matched the Gusties with a 321 of its own, while UW-Stout rounded out he top-three in third with a 325 (+37).

Taylor Drenttel found her swing Lake City, shooting a one-over-par 73 in the opening round to lead the field.  It is Drenttel’s lowest round of the season by eight strokes.

UW-Eau Claire finished with three golfers in the top-five in Sara Mattes (t-2nd, 78), Emily Swift (t-4th, 79), and Catherin Wagner (t-4th, 79).

Also finishing in the top-20 for the Gusties was Sam Falk, Kayleigh Dittes, and Liz Strom.  Falk sits in a tie for 15th place after shooting an 82 (+10), while Dittes and Strom rank 19th with an identical 83’s (+11).

The Gustavus women’s golf team will wrap up play at the Division 3 Invite on Sunday with the tournament beginning at 7:30 a.m.
