Men’s Tennis Selected To Host NCAA Regional Tournament This Weekend Posted on May 9th, 2011 by

Gustavus Adolphus College has been selected to host one of the eight NCAA Regional Tournaments for men’s tennis at the Brown Outdoor Tennis Complex in St. Peter this Friday, May 13 through Sunday, May 15.

Six teams will participate in the single-elimination NCAA Regional Tournament, including Gustavus Adolphus (17-8), Grinnell (22-7), Trinity (Tex.) (14-12), Chicago (16-4), Concordia (Wis.) (16-11), and Wisconsin-Eau Claire (24-5). Play will begin on Friday with Grinnell battling UW-Eau Claire at noon followed by Gustavus facing Concordia at 3:30 pm.  The winner of the Grinnell/UW-Eau Claire match will face Chicago on Saturday at 10:00 am followed by the winner of the Gustavus/Concordia match playing Trinity at 2:30 pm.  Saturday’s winners will face off on Sunday at noon with the winner earning a spot in the NCAA Team Finals to be held at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges in Claremont, Calif. on May 24-26.

If weather permits, all matches will be contested at the Brown Outdoor Courts. In the event of rain, the adjacent Swanson Tennis Center will be used. The tournament website will provide live updates for each match.

12:00 pm – Grinnell vs. UW-Eau Claire
3:30 pm – Gustavus vs. Concordia University (Wis.)

Saturday, May 14
10:00 am – University of Chicago vs. Grinnell/UW-Eau Claire winner
2:30 pm – Trinity University (Tex.) vs. Gustavus/Concordia winner

Sunday, May 15
12:00 pm – Championship match
