The Gustavus women’s tennis team opened up the FAB 10 Women’s Tennis Tournament with a 5-2 victory over the University of Mary Washington on Sunday, March 27 in Atlanta.
The Gustavus baseball team improved to 1-2 overall with a 9-3 win over Middlebury College on Sunday afternoon. The Gusties pounded out 13 hits in the game. Senior second baseman Cody Sukalski (Blue Earth, Minn.) went 2-for-2 at the plate and drove in two runs.
The Gustavus women’s swimming and diving team placed 19th with 47 points, while the men’s squad finished in 24th with 35 points at the 2011 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships held in Knoxville, Tenn.
The Gustavus baseball team opened its 2011 season with a couple of heartbreaking losses to Williams College in Phoenix, Arizona. The Gusties dropped the first game of a doubleheader 5-2 in nine innings and then were edged out in the finale 2-1.
The Gustavus gymnastics team saw its season come to a close on Friday evening as first year Jamie Ries and sophomore Dani Thibodeau competed at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Championships in Eau Claire, Wis.
Carley Mosher and the women’s 800 freestyle relay team turned in Gustavus’ top performances of day three at the NCAA Championships. The women’s squad sits in 18th place with 45 points and the men are in 22nd with 22 points.
Two Gustavus gymnasts sophomore Dani Thibodeau and first year Jamie Ries will take part in the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) National Championships this weekend in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Thibodeau qualified individually on the balance beam and floor exercise, while Ries qualified on the uneven bars.
After day two of competition at the 2011 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, the Gustavus women rank 12th with 43 points, while the men sit in 21st with 22 points. The Gustie women’s 200 freestyle relay team turned in the top performance of the day with a fifth place finish in 1:34.57.
Gustavus Adolphus swimmers Whitaker Davis (Palatine, Ill.) and Kelsey Lucia (St. Cloud, Minn.) highlighted day one of competition at the 2011 NCAA Championships. Davis placed seventh in the 500 freestyle, while Lucia added a 12th place finish in the 50 free.
