Women’s Hockey Featured On Fox Sports North
The Gustavus women's hockey team was featured on Fox Sports North on Saturday, February 12, as part of the network's coverage of Hockey Day Minnesota. Fox Sports North reporter Ann Carroll interviewed several players about what it means to be a Golden Gustie hockey player. The segment also briefly focused on the family connection within the team - Coach Mike Carroll's assistant coach is his brother Steve. The coaches' niece, Molly Carroll, is a junior captain for the Gusties.
Men’s Basketball Drops Overtime Heartbreaker To Saint John’s 96-88
The Gustavus men's basketball team suffered a heartbreaking 96-88 loss to Saint John's in overtime on Monday night in St. Peter, Minn. Seth Anderson led the Gusties with 30 points, while Saint John's Aaron Burtzel led all scorers with 32 points.
Women’s Track and Field Scores 198, Wins At Carleton
The Gustie women's track and field team continued its indoor season with a win at Carleton's Meet of Hearts, held on Saturday, February 12, in Northfield. Gustavus posted eight first-place finishes on the day to win the meet with a total of 198 points.
Men’s Track and Field Wins Carleton’s Meet Of Hearts
The Gustavus men's track and field team captured first place in six events while posting a team score of 181 to win Carleton's Meet of Hearts on Saturday, February 12, in Northfield. Blair Riegel led the Gusties, winning three events on the day.
Gymnastics Places Fourth At Best of Minnesota Meet
The Gustavus gymnastics team posted a score of 175.525 to finish fourth out of four teams at the Best of Minnesota meet hosted by the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis on Saturday evening. The Gusties were led by Danielle Thibodeau who finished sixth in the All-Around with a score of 36.025.
Cartony’s Third Period Goal Pushes Women’s Hockey Past Hamline 2-1
Gustavus first year forward Amanda Cartony broke a 1-1 tie with a goal at the 6:01 mark of the third period allowing the women's hockey team to slip past Hamline 2-1 in St. Paul on Saturday evening.
Men’s Tennis Tops Hamline and MSU-Mankato
The Gustavus men's tennis team opened up its 2011 home schedule with convincing wins over Hamline (9-0) and Minnesota State, Mankato (9-0) at the Swanson Tennis Center on Saturday. Coach Tommy Valentini's squad, which dropped only two sets in the 12 singles matches during the day, improved to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in MIAC play.
Nordic Skiing Successfully Wraps Up Competition At CCSA Championships
The Gustavus men’s and women’s nordic ski teams finished competition at the Central Collegiate Ski Association Championships on Sunday in favorable fashion, improving on Saturday’s Freestyle results to secure fifth and sixth place, respectively, in the overall team standings for the two-day meet.
Nordic Skiers Finish First Day Of CCSA Championships In Middle Of Pack
The Gustavus men’s and women’s nordic ski teams turned in fifth and eighth place team finishes, respectively, in the freestyle event on the first day of the Central Collegiate Ski Association Championships held at Al Quaal Ski Trails in Ishpeming, Mich. The meet serves as the Gusties’ conference championship, and precedes the NCAA Central Region Qualifier to be held the weekend of February 18-19.
Women’s Tennis Defeats Graceland 9-0, Falls To Nebraska-Omaha 5-4 And Drake 6-1
The Gustavus women's tennis team opening the 2011 season a 9-0 victory over Graceland, and a pair of losses to Nebraska-Omaha (5-4) and Drake (6-1). The Gusties are 1-2 overall and will begin MIAC play on Feb. 26 with a doubleheader against Hamline and Saint Benedict.
