The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its 2010 All-Academic Cross Country teams this week, honoring Kate Eggers (Montevideo, Minn.) and Elizabeth Hauer (Little Falls, Minn.), along with the entire Gustavus women’s cross country team.

Eggers led the Gusties with a seventh-place (22:56.2) finish at the MIAC Championships and placed a team-best 24th (22:58) at the NCAA Central Region Meet. The sophomore Spanish major has a grade point average of 3.59.

Hauer finished 13th (23:15.6) at the MIAC Championships and 28th at the NCAA Central Region Meet (23:06). Hauer is a sophomore music major with a grade point average of 3.92.

To earn All-Academic honors, the USTFCCCA mandates that student-athletes must have a grade point average above 3.30 and place in the top 35 at the NCAA regional championship.

In addition to the individual honors, the Gustavus women’s cross country team was recognized as an All-Academic team, as the women compiled a 3.56 grade point average.  The Gusties tied for 18th among all NCAA Division III institutions, which totals more than 400 programs.

The individuals competing for the Gusties at the NCAA Region meet whose grade point averages were used to earn the All-Academic Team honors were Kate Eggers, Kim Rostvold, Beth Hauer, Megan Lundgren, Danielle Burgmeier, Erica Hett, and Laura Secor.
