Women’s Swimming & Diving Finishes Runner-Up At Grinnell Invite Posted on January 23rd, 2011 by

Alissa Tinklenberg recorded four top-three finishes in the Grinnell Invite.

The Gustavus Adolphus women’s swimming and diving team totaled 984 points to finish runner-up at the two-day Grinnell Invitational held in Grinnell, Iowa on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 21-22.  The University of Nebraska at Omaha won the meet with 1176 points, while Luther College rounded out the top-three in third with 812 points.

The Gusties recorded five event wins and 10 individual top-three finishes at the meet.  Gustavus scored big points in the relays, winning four of the five events.

Kelsey Lucia, Serena Elthon, Dajana Vidovic, and Sarah Hund teamed up win the 200 free relay with a time of 1:39.22.   Carley Mosher, Anika Erickson, Steph Korba, and Lucia partnered to win the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:07.93.  Mosher, Laura Drake, Korba, and Lucia took the 200 medley relay in 1:52.13, while Lucia, Alissa Tinklenberg, Vidovic, and Hund won the 400 free relay with a mark of 3:37.70.  The 800 free relay team of Tinklenberg, Mosher, Vidovic, and Brogan Barr rounded out the group with a third place finish with a time of 8:05.78.

Swimmers making the podium at the meet included Carley Mosher, Alissa Tinklenberg, Kelsey Lucia, Steph Korba, and Dajana Vidovic.

Carley Mosher added Gustavus' only individual win in the 100 back.

Mosher registered the only individual win for the Gusties by taking the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:00.64.  She also added a third place finish in the 200 back with a time of 2:13.31.

Tinklenberg had an outstanding meet, finishing runner-up in three events and taking third in another.  Her second place finishes came in the 500 (5:21.78) and 1650 freestyle (18:38.97), and 200 backstroke (2:12.40).  Tinklenberg’s third came in the 100 back (1:01.94).

Lucia swam a 24.61 to finish second in the 50 freesytle.  She also went 54.52 to take third in the 100 free.  Korba and Vidovic both added third place finishes; Korba in the 100 butterfly (1:02.03) and Vidovic in the 50 free (25.09).

The Gustavus swimming and diving team will compete in its final dual of the season on Friday, Jan. 28, at 5:00 p.m. in St. Peter, Minn.
