Men’s Outdoor Track And Field In Seventh After Day One Of MIAC Championships Posted on May 14th, 2010 by

The Gustavus men’s outdoor track and field team is currently in seventh place after day one of competition at the 2010 MIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships being held Friday and Saturday, May 14-15 in Winona, Minn.  The Gusties have compiled a total of 20 points, as St. Thomas leads the pack with 57.5 points.  Hamline is currently in second place with 52 points, while Concordia sits in third with 35 points.

The Gusties registered four top-five finishes on the day.  The 4×800-meter relay team of John Kennedy, Justin Lund, Carson Smith, and Max Hanson had the top Gustavus performance of the afternoon, taking second place with a time of 7:49.13.

Other top-five finishers included Brian Anderson, David Young, and Jake Peymann.  Anderson finished fourth in the shot put (50′ 11″), Young took fourth in the javelin (162′ 10), and Peymann placed fifth in the high jump (6′ 4″).  Matt Benson placed ninth in the shot put, and Mark Hartman added a tenth place finish in the 10,000-meter run.

The final day of competition will begin tomorrow at 11:30am with the men’s discus, triple jump, and pole vault, and women’s javelin and high jump.
