Women’s Golf Tied For Second Place After First Day of NCAA Championships Posted on May 11th, 2010 by

The Gustavus women’s golf team is in a tie for second place after the first day of the NCAA Division III Championships which are being held at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida (a suburb of Orlando).  The Gusties fired a first round team score of 331 and are tied with UW-Eau Claire.  Defending champion Methodist leads the tournament with a total of 317.

Gustavus junior Katie Schenfeld is currently in a tie for fourth place with a first round score of 78.  Sophomore Taylor Drenttel and freshman Annie Jackson are tied for 18th with scores of 82.  Other scores for Gustavus included Amanda Woodhull with an 89 and Kali Griggs with a 90.

The 72-hole national tournament continues tomorrow and concludes on Friday.  The Gusties tee off at 8:00 am (EST) on Wednesday.

Gustavus, which entered the tournament ranked #2 in the most recent National Golf Coaches Association poll, finished third at last year’s NCAA Championship.
