Women’s Soccer Battles #22 UW-Stevens Point To 0-0 Tie In Two Overtimes Posted on October 4th, 2009 by

The Gustavus women’s soccer team received a strong performance from first year goalkeeper Jessica Richert, who recorded her first career shutout, and battled #22 UW-Stevens Point to a 0-0 tie after playing through 90 minutes of regulation play and two 10 minute overtimes. It was the first tie of the season for the Gusties who move to 6-4-1 overall.

The Gusties were on the defensive for much of the match as UW-Stevens Point held a 12-3 advantage in shots, but strong play in the nets by Richert and solid team defensive effort kept the Pointers off the scoreboard.

In the 27-year history of the Gustavus women’s soccer program (460 games), the team has played to a 0-0 tie only 13 times. The last time was last season against Luther College.

I am a colleague of Miss Jessica Richert’s father. Colonel Randy Richert is very proud of his daughter, as we all are. Thank you for the article on Jessica!

I have had the pleasure of visiting Gustavus Adolphus College many years ago and have always been in awe of the wonderful programs -academics to sports- that Gustavus offers! Academia forever!
