Women’s Tennis Advances To NCAA Championship Finals With 5-0 Win Over Wheaton In Regional Final

The Gustavus women's tennis team advanced to the NCAA Championship Finals with a 5-0 win over Wheaton College at the Swanson Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon. The Gusties won all three doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead and then added singles wins from Marianne Barau at the #5 position and Ali O'Neal at the #5 position to close out the match at 5-0. This is the 21st consecutive year that Gustavus has advanced to the NCAA Championship Finals.

Softball Advances To NCAA Regional Championship With 14-6 Win Over Webster

The Gustavus softball team defeated Webster University of Missouri 14-6 in five innings on Saturday and advanced to the NCAA Indianola Regional Championship game for the first time in the program's history. The Gusties are now one win away from advancing to the NCAA Championship Finals, which will be held May 15-19 in Montclair, New Jersey. The Gusties exploded for 14 runs on 13 hits. Rachael Click led the hit parade with three hits in four at-bats including two home runs.

Softball Team Remains In Winners Bracket Of Regional Tournament With 5-3 Win Over Luther

The Gustavus softball team picked up another exciting win at the NCAA Regional Tournament slipping past Luther 5-3 on Friday evening. Lisa Klass's two-out double in the third inning that drove in two runs proved to be the difference. Erin Truebenbach pitched a complete game for the Gusties allowing three runs on four hits, while striking out two and walking six. Gustavus will now play Webster on Saturday at 4 pm.

Men’s Tennis Advances To NCAA Regional Final With 5-0 Win Over UW-Whitewater

The Gustavus men's tennis team advanced to the championship match of the NCAA Regional with a convincing 5-0 win over UW-Whitwater on Saturday afternoon at the Swanson Tennis Center on the Gustavus campus. The Gusties will face Luther College, which upset the University of Texas-Tyler by the score of 5-4 on Saturday.

Softball Advances To Second Round Of NCAA Regional With 11-4 Win Over Central

The Gustavus softball team advanced to the second round of the NCAA Regional with a convincing 11-4 win over Central in Indianola, Iowa on Thursday evening. Jenna Johnson hit a two-run home run in the first inning and Emily Wendorff hit a grand slam in the sixth inning to spark the Gustie hit parade. Betsie Collins pitched three and two-thirds innings and picked up the win. Gustavus, the #7 seed, will now play Luther, the #6 seed on Friday at 6 pm.

Women’s Tennis Advances To Regional Final With 5-0 Win over St. Scholastica

The Gustavus women's tennis team claimed an impressive 5-0 win over St. Scholastica on Friday afternoon at the Swanson Tennis Center on the Gustavus campus. The #1 doubles team of Sierra Krebsbach and Sam Frank rallied from a 7-1 deficit to win 9-7 to give the Gusties a 3-0 lead after doubles play and the team then quickly closed out the match with singles wins by Marianne Barau at #5 and Erica Dobson at #6. Gustavus will play Wheaton on Saturday at noon for the regional title.

Women’s Track and Field Posts Strongest Program Finish At MIAC Championships, Places Second

The Gustavus women's track and field team won seven individual events as it compiled 173 points, which is the highest point total in program history, to finish second at the MIAC Championships hosted by Carleton College. Sophomore Sam Broderius (Hector, Minn.) captured multiple event titles with NCAA provisional marks in the shot put with a distance of 44 feet, 8 3/4 inches and the discus with a distance of 148 feet, 3 inches.

John Kauss Selected To Compete In NCAA Individual Championships, Kauss and Mike Burdakin Chosen For Doubles

The NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Committee has selected John Kauss (Sr., St. Paul, Minn.) as one of 32 single players to participate in the NCAA Men's Tennis Individual Championship and is the only undefeated Division III player in the singles draw at 24-0. Kauss and doubles partner Mike Burdakin (Sr., Bettendorf, Iowa) were also selected as one of 16 double teams to participate in the NCAA Men's Tennis Double Championship.

Softball Team Opens NCAA Tournament Play Against Central

The Gustavus softball team opens NCAA Tournament play on Thursday evening against Central College of Pella, Iowa at 6 pm. The Gusties, the MIAC regular season champions, are the #7 seed, while the Dutch, the IIAC regular season champions, are the #2 seed. The eight-team regional, which will take place Thursday through Sunday, is being played at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa.

Gustavus Set To Host Men’s And Women’s Tennis NCAA Regional Tournaments

Gustavus Adolphus College is set to host one of the eight NCAA Regional Tournaments for men's and women's tennis at the Brown Outdoor Tennis Complex in St. Peter. The women's tennis tournament will take place Thursday, May 7 through Saturday, May 9, while the men's tennis tournament will be held Friday, May 8 through Sunday, May 10.
