Lauren Wallerius has been named MIAC Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week.

Lauren Wallerius has been named MIAC Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week.

Gustavus Adolphus College senior diver Lauren Wallerius (Albertville, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) has been named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 4, 2007. Wallerius won both diving competitions in Saturday’s dual against UW-Stevens Point, setting a new school record and achieving an NCAA qualifying score on the three-meter board.

Wallerius finished her final home dual meet in style, posting a season-best score of 223.15 on the one-meter board and achieving an NCAA qualifying score in the 3-meter diving competition with a winning score of 261.90. The score is also a new school record for 6 dives on three meter.

Wallerius, a history and management major, is the daughter of Mark and Terry Wallerius of Albertville and a 2003 graduate of St. Michael-Albertville High School.

Coach Jon Carlson and his squad will now spend the next two weeks training and tapering for the MIAC Championships which will be held at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center, February 15-17.
