The Gustavus men’s cross country team turned in one of its finest performances of the season with an eighth place finish out of 23 teams at the NCAA Central Region Meet held at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn. The Gusties were led by Dan Foley who finished 38th in a time of 26:52.05. Foley was followed closely by Chris deLaubenfels who placed 41st in a time of 26:55.05 and Alex Zupan who finished 43rd in a time of 26:55.45. The rest of the Gustie finishes included John Leaf placing 63rd (27:20.45), John Kennedy finishing 81st (27:43.70), Kyle Carlson placing 100th (28:09.55) and Mark Hartman finishing 107th (28:43.85).

Gustavus finished ahead of four teams that it finished behind at the MIAC Championships two weeks ago. The Gusties total of 266 bettered Bethel (272), Macalester (287), St. Thomas (293), and St. Olaf (303). Hamline won the Central Region meet with a score of 76. The NCAA Regional meet concludes the 2006 season for Gustavus.
