Gustavus Adolphus College cross country runner Hailey Harren (Sr., Cold Spring, Minn./Rocori) has been named Female Cross Country Athlete of the Week by the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for the week ending Sept. 25, 2006. Harren captured the title in the Division III Maroon race at the Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota in a time of 22:06, outdistancing the nearest competitor in the field of 404 runners by over a minute.

The time posted by Harren, the 2005 NCAA Division III individual cross country champion, would have also won the Division II race at the Griak. The Griak Invitational was the only race that Harren did not win last season. Harren has now finished first in all three races this season and nine of the last 10 races that she has competed in dating back to the beginning of the 2005 season. Gustavus finished 11th out of 32 teams at the event.

Harren, a financial economics and political science major, is the daughter of Thomas and Deborah Harren of Cold Spring and a 2003 graduate of Rocori High School.
