Gustavus Adolphus softball player Audrey Lenoch (Sr., Pine Island, Minn.) and baseball player Tony Konicek (Jr., Rochester, Minn.) have been named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference players of the week in their respective sports for the week ending April 16, 2006.

Lenoch, a senior first baseman, hit .833 in two games last week as she helped the Gusties sweep Concordia College 7-0 and 6-0 in St. Peter. Lenoch went 4-for-4 with a triple, a run scored, and five RBI to help Gustavus post a 7-0 victory in game one. She also recorded seven putouts, with one assist and no errors. In game two, Lenoch went 1-for-2 with two walks as the Gusties claimed a 6-0 win. Lenoch also contributed eight putouts and one assist. Gustavus has won nine straight games over the past two weeks and Lenoch has led the way as she hit .667 during that stretch (18-for-27) with 10 runs scored and 17 RBI.

Konicek, a junior outfielder, hit .588 (10-for-17) in doubleheaders against Saint John’s and Augsburg last week with four doubles, five RBI, a .824 slugging percentage and a team-high .588 on-base percentage. In a sweep of the Auggies Saturday, Konicek went 9-for-11 at the plate with four doubles, four RBI and two runs scored. He was a perfect 5-for-5 in game one with three doubles. Starting all four games in center field during the week, Konicek made only one error in 12 put-out attempts. For the season, Konicek leads the team with a .458 batting average and a .695 slugging percentage.

Lenoch, a nursing major, is the daughter of Ron and Lisa Lenoch of Pine Island and a 2002 graduate of Pine Island High School. Konicek, an accounting major, is the son of Tamara Konicek of Rochester and a 2003 graduate of Mayo High School.
