Men’s Tennis Squeezes Past Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 4-3 Posted on March 28th, 2006 by

The Gustavus men’s team, which recently moved into the top spot in the Fila/ITA NCAA Division III men’s tennis rankings, registered wins in four of six singles matches against third-rated Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and held on to win 4-3 Tuesday in Palm Springs, California.

Seniors Loren Collins (Dallas, Texas), Adam Morgan (Barrington, Ill.) and Brett Morse-Karzen (Wilmette, Ill.) and sophomore Andy Bryan (Edina, Minn.) each picked up singles wins against the Stags, while Morgan and Morse-Karzen teamed to pick the lone Gustie win in doubles, downing Guillaume Schils and Lawrence Wang 8-4 at the No. 1 position.

Gustavus will face ninth-rated University of Redlands Wednesday before facing Azusa Pacific Thursday in a meeting of top-rated teams. APU is the top rated program in the NAIA ranks.
