The Gustavus women’s golf team compiled a 36-hole score of 344-327–671 to place second out of four teams at the Carleton Invitational at the Northfield Golf Club on Sunday, April 17. The University of St. Thomas won the invite with a score of 338-324–662, which is a new tournament record.

Individually, Kelsey Getz and Steph Polzin tied for third place with a 36-hole total 167 to lead the Gusties. Getz recorded an 88 after the first 18-holes of golf and a second round score of 79. Her score of 79 on the second day was the lowest 18-hole total for the tournament. Polzin compiled a score of 86 after the first 18-holes and a score of 81 for the second 18-holes. Carleton’s Kassie Wells earned the individual medalist honors with a 36-hole total of 81-82–163.

Due to poor weather conditions on Saturday, the original field of eight teams ended up splitting in half, with some teams choosing to play a 27-hole event and others picking to go the full 36 holes over two days. Teams electing to participate in the 36-hole event were Carleton, Gustavus, St. Benedict and St. Thomas.

Gustavus will return to action in a dual meet on Wednesday, April 20 against Minnesota State University, Mankato.
