Men’s Indoor Track & Field in Sixth Place After First Day at MIAC Championships Posted on March 4th, 2005 by

The Gustavus men’s track and field team is in sixth place with 36 points after one day of competition at the MIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. The conference meet is being hosted by Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn.

The Gusties recorded five top five finishes on Friday at the Olson Forum in Moorhead. Junior Jack Henkemeyer recorded a time of 6.54 to place second in the 55-meter dash. Sophomore Anthony Schulzetenberg placed fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.96.

For the second consecutive season, sophomore Tanner Miest placed second in the 55-meter hurdles. Miest recorded a time of 7.93, just one-hundreth of a second behind first-place. In the weight throw, sophomore Andy Klaers threw a distance of 50-6 to claim fifth place.

In the only relay event of the day, the team of Brent Magnusson, Mark Hall, Paul Kienberger and Alex Zupan finsihed in fifth place with a time of 10:46.18.

The championship meet will conclude on Saturday. The day’s events start at 10:00am with the final race being scheduled for 2:20pm.
