Women’s Swimming Places Fifth at UW-Stevens Point Invitational Posted on January 24th, 2005 by

The Gustavus women’s swimming and diving team traveled to Stevens Point, Wis. to compete in the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Invitational held Friday, January 21 and Saturday, January 22. The Gusties compiled 438 points to place fifth out of nine teams. UW-La Crosse won the invitational with 941.5 points.

The Gusties were led by Eva Miller and Beth DeLaRosby. Miller placed second in the 100 breaststroke and placed fifth in the 200 breaststroke with times of 1:10.08 and 2:35.11, respectively. DeLaRosby recorded a time of 24.59 in the 50 freestyle to place second at the invite.

Coach Jon Carlson’s squad recorded three third place finishes in the relay events. The team of Sara Pfau, Eva Miller, Katie Garvey and Beth DeLaRosby placed third in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:52.79. The team of Eva Miller, Katie Garvey, Laura Watkins and Beth DeLaRosby recorded a time of 1:40.72 to place third in the 200 freestyle relay. Katie Garvey, Beth DeLaRosby, Laura Watkins and Laurie Decknatel recorded a time of 3:43.11 to place third in the 400 freestyle relay.

The Gusties will return to MIAC dual meet action against the College of Saint Benedict on Saturday, January 29 in Collegeville.
