The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s hockey team will face St. Mary’s University in another key MIAC series this weekend. The Gusties, who are currently ranked #3 in the USCHO.com poll, are coming off a two-game sweep of St. Olaf. The sweep improves Gustavus’ overall record to 11-1-1, with a conference record of 8-0-0. Coach Carroll’s squad is first in the MIAC with 16 points, and has only allowed 15 goals in their 13 games. St. Mary’s comes into the weekend with a record of 6-7-0 overall, and 4-4-0 in the MIAC. The Cardinals swept Hamline last weekend, which moved them into a fifth place tie with St. Benedict. St. Mary’s is led in scoring by sophomore forward Melissa Mondo who has compiled 10 points (6g, 4a). Sophomore goaltender Nikki Jung is also a key part of the Cardinals success with a 5-4-0 record, saving over 91% of the shots she has faced.

Gustavus leads the all-time series with St. Mary’s having compiled a record of 14-5-3. The Gusties swept the series last year posting a 4-1 win in Winona and compiling a 3-0 victory in St. Peter. In the past four years, Gustavus has posted an 8-2-2 mark against the Cardinals. During that stretch, the Gusties are 5-0-2 at home and 3-2-0 in Winona.
