The Gustavus Adolphus women’s golf team has been selected for the second consecutive year to participate in the NCAA Division III Golf Championships. The championships will take place May 11-14 at The Golf Courses of Lawsonia in Green Lake, Wisconsin. The Gusties look to improve on their seventh place finish in the 2003 championships.

Gustavus is ranked number one in Region 4, which makes them one of the top five teams in the country. Head Coach Scott Moe has selected Katie Aplin (Junior, St. Cloud, Minn.), Kelsey Getz (Junior, Mendota Heights, Minn.), Kelli Groff (Sophomore, Bloomington, Minn.), Alana Reetz (Sophomore, Milaca, Minn.) and Erin Schliep (Sophomore, Rochester, Minn.) to compete in the championships. The Gusties will be led by Groff, who has a 84.77 stroke average in ten tournaments over the fall and spring seasons. Getz follows with a 86.31 stroke average, Aplin with a 86.55 stroke average, Reetz with a 88.1 stroke average and Schliep with a 90.33 stroke average

The NCAA committee selected 10 teams, two teams from each of the five regions, for the championships. Methodist, Mount Holyoke, DePauw, St. Mary’s (Indiana), Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Wisconsin-Oshkosh, Simpson, Mary Hardin-Baylor and Hardin-Simmons will join Gustavus at the championships. The committee also selected ten individuals not from the selected teams to participate in the championships. The tournament consists of 72 holes of play over four days of competition. In the team competition, the low four scores from each team for each day will count in the team’s total score.
