Women’s Gymnastics Places Second at NCGA West Regional Posted on March 20th, 2004 by

The Gustavus Adolphus women’s gymnastics team placed second at the NCGA West Regional on Friday night scoring 182.500 total points. The regional was hosted by Univeristy of Wisconsin-Eau Claire at the McPhee Physical Educaton Center on campus.

By finishing as one of the top four teams at the regional, Gustavus has advanced to the NCGA National Meet. The national meet will be hosted by Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston, Massachusetts April 2-3.

Alyssa Cox (Sophomore, Big Lake, Minn.) was the only Gustavus athlete to win an event at the regional meet. Cox placed first in the vault with a score of 9.550. She also tied for seventh place on the uneven bars (9.000). Amanda Parker (Junior, Ames Iowa) placed in the top five in three events. Parker placed second on the uneven bars (9.325), tied for fourth on the balance beam (9.275), and placed third in the all-around (36.750).

Ashley Erickson (Sophmore, Lakeland, Minn.) finished in the top five in two events. Erickson placed third on the vault (9.475) and fourth on the uneven bars (9.200). Brittany Moore (First-year, Plymouth, Minn.) placed fifth in the vault with a score of 9.350. Therese Gay (Junior, Sugar Grove, Ill.) placed sixth on the floor exercise with a score of 9.425. Mary Puder (Senior, St. Paul, Minn.) placed eighth on the vault with a score of 9.300.
