Angie Peterson named Finalist for Kodak/WBCA All-America Team Posted on March 12th, 2004 by

Gustavus senior guard Angie Peterson is a finalist for the Division III Kodak/Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-America team.

Peterson is one of two MIAC players selected from the west region. Carleton sophomore Megan Vig is the other. The Kodak/WBCA All-America Women’s Basketball Team will be announced at the Division III Championship team banquet on March 18, 2004, in Norfolk, Va., by WBCA CEO, Beth Bass and WBCA President, Wendy Larry.

Peterson is a three-time all-conference selection (2002, 2003, 2004). She led the team in scoring in each of the past three seasons and finished second on the Gustavus all-time scoring list with 1,333 points. Angie scored in double figures in 26-of-27 games this year on her way to averaging 17.5 points per game. By scoring 472 points this year, she broke her own record of 458 that she set last season. Peterson also reached the 1,000-point plateau in the December 30 game against Whitworth. Angie set the school record for three point baskets made with 176 and finished second in school history for steals with 200. She was also named to the MIAC All-Defensive team twice (2003, 2004).

Peterson helped the Gusties compile a record of 66-17 overall during her three-year career. The Gusties had a conference record of 56-10 during that same time with one conference title. The program also picked up its first ever win in NCAA Tournament play in 2003.
