Jack Henkemeyer Leads Men’s Track in Indoor Opener Posted on January 29th, 2004 by

The Gustavus men’s track and field team opened its indoor season by hosting a meet in the Lund Center with teams from Macalester and Martin Luther. There were no team scores kept at the meet. Sophomore Jack Henkemeyer was a double-winner for the Gusties winning both the 55 and 200 meter dashes.

Henkemeyer, the lone double winner for Gustavus, posted a time of 6.56 in the 55 meters and a time of 23.13 in the 200 meters. His time in the 55 meters was just .06 off of the NCAA provisional qualifying mark. Joining Henkemeyer in the winner’s circle for Gustavus were Tanner Miest in the 55 meter hurdles (7.90), Brian Trussell in the shot put (41′ 10.75″), Matt Diercks in the triple jump (41′ .050″), Alex Kestly in the weight throw (40′ 4.75″), Mike Schmidt in the high jump (6′ 0.75″) and Josh Sorenson in the pole vault (14′ 2.50″).

Martin Luther took first place in three events and Macalester placed first in two events.
