Two Gusties Earn All-America Honors Posted on May 22nd, 2003 by

Gustavus Adolphus College men’s golfers Neil Johnson and Luke Benoit earned All-America honors for their performances at the NCAA Championships held May 12-15 in Delaware, Ohio. Johnson earned first-team honors while Benoit took second-team honors.

Johnson, a junior from River Falls, Wisconsin, tied for fourth place individually at the national championships. He carded a five-over par 289 for the 72-hole tournament. Johnson fired a 70 on the last day of competition and played the last two rounds at three-under par. It is the third consecutive season that Johnson has earned All-America honors.

Benoit, a junior from Faribault, Minnesota, tied for 12th place individually. He shot a four-day total of 294 for 10-over par. Benoit’s best rounds came on the second and fourth days of play when he shot a one-over 72 each day. Benoit also earned All-America honors in 2001.
